Château Renon is a winegrowing estate located in Tabanac. The property is owned by James Zhou and managed by Jean-François Galhaud. Michel Rolland provides oenological consulting for the red wines, while Xavier Planty consults for the sweet white wines.
History and philosophy
The winegrowing origins of the Château Renon site date back to the year 1000 on the Tabanac outcrop. Prominent families such as the Lur Saluces house have left their mark on the estate's history. The current 19th-century château was built on the ruins of a former medieval fortress. In 2014, James Zhou acquired the property.
Château Renon committed to organic farming by beginning its conversion in 2018, achieving full organic certification in 2021.
Appellations
Château Renon produces wines under several appellations. The red wines are crafted in Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux, and the sweet white wines in Cadillac.
Winemaking and ageing
Château Renon's red wines are aged in large oak vats (foudres) and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. For cuvées aged in new oak barrels, the ageing period generally lasts between 15 and 18 months. The sweet wines are aged entirely in new oak barrels.
The cellar was designed by the architectural practice Metayer Errath Lehembre.

Château Renon is located 19 km from Bordeaux, 17 km from Gare Saint-Jean railway station, and 26 km from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. The estate offers guided tours of the park, relaxation area, French formal garden, cellars, and historic vaulted kitchens, followed by wine tastings. High-end guest rooms and a fully equipped conference room (for 15 people) are also available.

The vineyard (terroir)
The Château Renon vineyard is situated on the Right Bank of the Garonne, in the commune of Tabanac. The soils are clay-limestone. The vineyard spans a total surface area of 8 hectares, with 6 hectares dedicated to red grape varieties and 2 hectares to white varieties. The grape varieties cultivated for the red wines are Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, while the sweet white wines are crafted from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
Harvesting is carried out by hand for the red wines, and via successive selective pickings (3 to 4 passes) in small crates for the sweet wines.

- Château Renon Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux Rouge: This cuvée is predominantly composed of Merlot (85%) complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). Eighty per cent of the volume is aged in new oak barrels.
- Château Renon Grande Réserve Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux Rouge: This wine is a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). It undergoes ageing in new oak barrels for approximately 15 months.
Sweet White Wines
- Château Renon Cadillac Liquoreux: This cuvée is made from Sémillon (85%) and Sauvignon (15%). It is aged entirely in new oak barrels.
- Château Renon Grande Réserve Liquoreux: This wine is crafted from 100% Sémillon and aged entirely in new oak barrels.

Portes ouvertes Maison des Vins 2026 | Ville de Cadillac sur Garonne
La 31ème édition des Journées Portes Ouvertes de la Région des Premières Côtes de Bordeaux se tiendra les 6 et 7 juin 2026, de 10h à 19h. Cet événement permettra aux visiteurs de rencontrer une trentaine de vignerons d'exception qui partageront leur passion et proposeront de nombreuses animations, activités ludiques et déjeuners.
