History and Philosophy

Château Tour de Bellegarde was acquired in 2018 by Guillaume Bergeon. The estate practises traditional viticulture, including grass cover between rows and soil tillage. The property has held Level 3 HVE certification since November 2020.

Appellations

Château Tour de Bellegarde produces wines under the Bordeaux Supérieur and Bordeaux Blanc appellations.

The Vineyard (Terroir)

The Château Tour de Bellegarde vineyard covers a total area of 52 hectares. The soils are clay-limestone. The average age of the vines is 40 years, with an average planting density of 4,000 vines per hectare. The red grape varieties consist of Merlot (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), and Cabernet Franc (5%). For the white wines, the vineyard is planted with 100% Sémillon.

Flagship Cuvées

Château Tour de Bellegarde (Red)

The red wine comes from a grape blend dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Vinification is parcel-by-parcel in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Ageing lasts 6 months, with 50% of the volume in stainless steel vats and 50% with French oak staves. The yield is approximately 48 hl/ha.

Tour de Bellegarde Blanc

This cuvée is crafted from Sémillon. Ageing takes place in vats.
