Identity
Château Tour des Termes is a winegrowing estate located in Saint-Estèphe, in the Gironde. It is owned by Dr Eddie O’Connor. Julien Brustis serves as Managing Director, with Hubert de Boüard acting as consultant.
History and philosophy
The Anney family owned Château Tour des Termes for five generations before its acquisition by Dr Eddie O’Connor in early 2023. Christophe Anney, the former owner, managed the estate from 1979. In 2016, Hubert de Boüard began his role as consultant to the property. The estate has been certified Terra Vitis since 2014 and HVE since 2015.
A new cellar, designed by BPM Architectes, is currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2026. Built across three semi-underground levels and topped with solar panels, the facility aims to achieve 100% renewable energy self-sufficiency.

The vineyard (terroir)
The vineyard spans 35 hectares, comprising 26 hectares in the Saint-Estèphe appellation and 9 hectares in Haut-Médoc. The soils consist of deep gravels and clay-limestone, the latter making up approximately two-thirds of the vineyard area. The average vine age is 35 years. The grape varieties planted are 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot.
The estate has undertaken a vineyard optimisation programme, including reorienting row directions and introducing electrical soil moisture monitoring. Varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot have been replanted, replacing two-thirds of the old vines dating from the 1960s. There are also plans to plant 2 hectares of white grape varieties in 2024—principally Sémillon alongside Sauvignon, as well as a few experimental rows of Albariño—on limestone-over-clay oasis soils.
Flagship cuvées
The wines of Château Tour des Termes are crafted in pursuit of balance and complexity. The estate produces around 200,000 bottles annually.
Vinification and ageing
Harvesting is carried out both by hand and mechanically. Vinification and ageing take place partly in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak. Trials are also conducted using concrete vats, large French oak casks, and amphorae. Ageing lasts for 15 months.
