The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Vieille Tour vineyard spans 25 hectares over clay-limestone and clay-gravel soils. The plots enjoy an elevated exposure overlooking the Garonne. The average age of the vines is 30 years, with vines dedicated to sweet white wines reaching up to 90 years. The estate cultivates various grape varieties: for the reds, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec; for the whites, Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Viticultural practices aim to preserve biodiversity and soil quality.

Flagship cuvées

Among the cuvées of Château Vieille Tour is the Château Vieille Tour cuvée « Signature ». This cuvée is the result of distinctive blends, in which Jérôme Gouin experiments with specific profiles. For a vintage such as 2018, the documented blend comprises 80% Petit Verdot and 20% Merlot. This cuvée is crafted to express a distinctive character.

Vinification and ageing

For the cuvée « Signature », ageing takes place in wood for 12 months, in medium-toast Taransaud French oak barrels.
