Clos Dady

Clos Dady, an estate in Preignac in the Sauternes and Graves appellations, was run by the Gachet family from 1998 before being acquired by M. Ragimov in 2011. The 9-hectare vineyard, currently in organic conversion, is planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle.

Identity
Clos Dady is a winegrowing estate located in Preignac, in the Gironde département. The current owners are Catherine and Christophe Gachet. The name “Dady” comes from the nickname given to Catherine Gachet's grandmother.
History and philosophy
The property was taken over by the Gachet family in 1998. In 2011, the estate was acquired by M. Ragimov, a 53-year-old Russian physicist and businessman.

The estate produces wines under the Sauternes appellation across 6 hectares and under the Graves appellation across 3 hectares.

The vineyard (terroir)
The Clos Dady vineyard spans a total area of 9 hectares. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Part of the vineyard is situated on the banks of the Ciron. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand. The estate is committed to converting to organic viticulture.
The grape variety mix is predominantly Sémillon (88%), complemented by Sauvignon Blanc (10%) and Muscadelle (2%).
Key cuvées
Clos Dady is renowned for its still white wines. For example, the Clos Dady 2017 cuvée is a blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle. The Clos Dady 2009 vintage is crafted from 95% Sémillon, with a hint of Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
Vinification and ageing
The wines are aged in oak barrels. The ageing period ranges from 18 to 36 months, as with the 2009 vintage, which underwent 18 to 24 months of ageing.
