The Vineyard (Terroir)

The Château Respide-Médeville vineyard extends over a planted area of approximately 12 hectares. It is situated on a gravel rise north of Langon, offering views over the Garonne. The soils consist of a clay-gravel ridge with a gravel subsoil. For the red grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on deep gravel plots, while Merlot is grown on gravel mixed with sand over a clay bed. A plot of yellow clay is located on the slope. The average age of the vines is around 35 years, with a planting density of 6,500 vines per hectare. The harvest is carried out by hand.

The red grape plantings consist of equal parts Merlot (50%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (50%). The white vineyard is planted with Sémillon (50%), Sauvignon (48%), and Muscadelle (2%).

Flagship Cuvées

The estate offers several cuvées, including Château Respide-Médeville in red and white. The red second wine is "Dame de Respide rouge".

The red wines are characterised by one year of ageing in oak barrels, one-third of which are renewed annually. They are vinified using traditional methods, with a maceration period of around 25 days.

The white wines are aged in 100% new oak barrels for a duration of one year.
