The Vineyard and Terroir

The vineyard covers approximately 10 to 11 hectares on a gravel terroir. The commune of Preignac is one of the five designated communes of the Sauternes appellation. The grape varieties planted for the estate's wines include Sémillon and Muscadelle, with an average vine age of around thirty years.

Key Cuvées

Domaine de Monteils offers an AOC Sauternes cuvée made from old-vine Sémillon. This sweet white wine typically delivers a fruity, complex profile supported by a well-balanced structure. A dedicated cuvée named "Sélection" is also produced.

In addition, the estate produces a dry white wine, "Sémillon".

Vinification and Ageing

For the AOC Sauternes, fermentation takes place in oak barrels. Part of the harvest earmarked for the "Sélection" cuvée is entirely vinified and aged in French oak barrels. Ageing for the AOC Sauternes lasts a minimum of 24 months in tanks. The grapes for the dry white "Sémillon" are harvested entirely by hand.
