Identity

Vignobles Ducourt is a family-owned winegrowing estate established in 1858, situated in Ladaux, in the Gironde department. The enterprise has been managed by the Ducourt family across six generations, with Philippe Ducourt serving as Commercial and Marketing Director, while winemaking is overseen by Jérémy Ducourt.

History and Philosophy

The history of Vignobles Ducourt began in 1858 when Pierre Ducourt acquired four hectares of vines. The estate expanded significantly from 1919 onwards. Following a period of viticultural crisis between 1929 and 1955, Henri and Simone Ducourt took over management in 1951, driving the expansion of the family vineyard. Wine exports commenced in 1973, and the family broadened their holdings by acquiring several châteaux, including Château de Beauregard-Ducourt in 1973, Château Larroque in 1979, Château Briot in 1980, and Château d'Haurets in 1983. Simone Ducourt inherited Château La Rose Saint-Germain in 1971, and Marie-Christine Boyer de la Giroday, Henri Ducourt's daughter, owns Château Larroque. In 1994, the family acquired Château Plaisance, followed in 2001 by Château des Demoiselles and Château Jacques Noir.

Vignobles Ducourt has also pursued an active environmental approach over the past decade, notably by reducing bottle weight starting eight years ago, saving 100 tonnes of glass annually. The estate is a founding member of the Cultivons Demain initiative and the Environmental Management System (EMS) for Vins de Bordeaux. In 2014, disease-resistant grape varieties were planted. The estate's first certified organic vintage was 2023. In 2020, Vignobles Ducourt was awarded the Trophée d'Or in the Innovation and Future category.

Vignobles Ducourt produces wines across various appellations, including Bordeaux, Castillon Côtes-de-Bordeaux, Entre-Deux-Mers, Montagne Saint-Émilion, and Saint-Émilion.

Cellar door sales are available. The estate also offers alternative packaging formats alongside standard bottles, such as Bag-in-Box (3L or 5L), KeyKeg (20L), Cube (1,000L), Flexitank (24,000L), as well as grape sales by the kilogram. Custom labelling requires a minimum order of 1,200 bottles, and bespoke winemaking requires a minimum of 18,000 bottles.

The Vineyard (Terroir)

Vignobles Ducourt extends across 400 hectares, including 58.8 hectares of cultivated vines. The estate also encompasses 130 hectares of meadows, 54 hectares of sustainably managed woodland, and nine lakes and ponds. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone. The property includes 35 hectares certified organic and 20 hectares planted with disease-resistant grape varieties.

Among the 13 properties of Vignobles Ducourt are:

• Château de Beauregard-Ducourt, with 18 hectares in Entre-deux-Mers for whites and 44 hectares in Bordeaux for reds and rosés. Grape varieties planted include Sauvignon, Sémillon, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
• Château Larroque, covering 60 hectares.
• Château d'Haurets, covering 13 hectares. Grape varieties are primarily Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle for the whites.
• Château Briot, with 50 hectares.
• Château La Rose Saint-Germain, where Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated.
• Château des Combes, with vines located in Entre-deux-Mers and Haut Benauge.

• Château Beauregard-Ducourt Rouge: A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
• Château Beauregard-Ducourt Blanc: Crafted from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon under the Entre-Deux-Mers appellation.
• Château Beauregard-Ducourt Rosé: A rosé produced from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon under the Bordeaux appellation.
• Château Beauregard-Ducourt Black Label: This Bordeaux red wine is also a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification and Ageing

Ageing methods vary across the wines, as demonstrated by the red Château de Beauregard-Ducourt, which for certain vintages undergoes twelve months of ageing in oak barrels.
