On Monday, we are harvesting our first bunches of Sauvignonasse

This grape variety is known as Friulano in Italy and Sauvignonasse in Slovenia. It was once also called Tokai Friulano, but the Hungarians requested that it be renamed. It was once planted in Bordeaux under the name Sauvignon Vert, although it has no relationship with Sauvignon. It offers richness, freshness, and moderate aromatics. It must be allowed to ripen thoroughly, even though it is susceptible to grey rot. It is not listed in the official grape variety catalogue in France, even though it is permitted in Italy.
