Identity

Château Conge-Manet is a winegrowing estate located in Saint-Loubès, in the Gironde department. It is owned by Florence and Bruno DEGUILLAUME.

History and philosophy

The history of the site where Château Conge-Manet stands dates back to the 17th century, with the first mention of a smallholding. In 1693, the estate was acquired by monks of the Order of Mercy in Bordeaux from Monsieur DENIZARD. The main building was erected in the 18th century, and later underwent alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The winegrowing estate as it is known today was established around the 1850s.

Florence and Bruno DEGUILLAUME purchased Château Conge-Manet in 2006. They implement sustainable viticulture practices (culture raisonnée), placing particular emphasis on soil preservation through alternating grass cover and mechanical tillage, alongside limiting and tailoring treatments to the vineyard's specific needs.

The red wine

This wine is crafted from the estate's grape varieties. It displays a structure that reflects tank ageing. Parcel-by-parcel vinification helps express the distinctive characters of the different plots.

The clairet

Crafted from Merlot using the saignée method from red wine vats at optimal ripeness, this wine offers a fruity, fresh profile. It is designed to be enjoyed within three years of vinification.

Harvesting is carried out mechanically at optimal ripeness for both the red wines and the clairet. Traditional vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, using a parcel-by-parcel approach. For the red wines, maceration lasts approximately three weeks, followed by 24 months of ageing in vats on the lees, with the use of oak sticks.
