The terroir

Sharing its geographical area with the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations, the Bordeaux Clairet appellation spans a vast winegrowing territory across the Gironde department. The vineyards are established on varied soils, primarily composed of clay, gravel, sand and silt. This diversity of terroirs imparts complexity and a nuanced expression characteristic of the region.

The wines

Bordeaux Clairet is a historic rosé wine crafted from traditional Bordeaux red grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its colour is deeper than that of a pale rosé, leaning towards a light red as a result of a short yet deliberate skin maceration. It is distinguished by an aromatic profile blending red berry fruits with occasional spicy notes, offering a fresh, fruity palate with a pleasing structure.

At the table

Thanks to its distinct character and structure, Bordeaux Clairet is a versatile companion at the table. It pairs effortlessly with charcuterie, roast poultry and grilled fish. Its freshness is equally well suited to mixed salads or mildly spiced Mediterranean and Asian dishes. It should be served lightly chilled, between 10 and 12°C, to fully express its aromatic and taste qualities.
