Identity
Château Tayac is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Saint-Seurin, in the Gironde. It has been owned by the Saturny family since 1959 and is currently managed by Philippe and Loïc Saturny.
History and philosophy
Château Tayac was acquired by the Saturny family in 1959 and has remained a family estate ever since, passed down through several generations. A watchtower, traditionally said to have been built by the Prince Noir, stands on the property, bearing witness to its long history. The estate favours a sustainable viticulture approach to managing its vineyard.
Appellations
Château Tayac produces wines under the Côtes de Bourg appellation. The estate is part of the Blayais and Bourgeais sub-regions within the Bordeaux wine region.

The vineyard (terroir)
The Château Tayac vineyard extends over an area of 30 hectares. The soils are clay-limestone. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The red grape varieties comprise 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc, covering 29.5 hectares. For the white wines, the vineyard is planted with 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémillon across 0.5 hectares. Harvesting is carried out by hand.
Signature cuvées
Château Tayac offers a range of red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. Key cuvées include the “Grand classique des Côtes de Bourg” as well as the “Rubis du Prince Noir”. The estate also crafts a “Prestige” cuvée and a rosé, “Château Tayac Bordeaux rosé”, made from Merlot and Cabernet grapes. The red wines are designed to express the characteristics of their terroir, while the rosé offers a fresh and fruity profile, best served between 10°C and 12°C.
