Château Vilatte is located in Puynormand, Gironde. The estate is owned by Stefaan Massart.

History and philosophy

The Massart family, originally from Flanders, acquired the estate in 1973. The vineyard was established in the 1970s. Château Vilatte is committed to organic viticulture and has achieved AB – Agriculture Biologique certification. The estate was also recognised with a Best Of Wine Tourism award in 2019 for its wine tourism initiatives highlighting environmental practices.

Appellations

Château Vilatte produces wines under the Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur, and Crémant de Bordeaux appellations.

Château Vilatte offers red wines in the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations, as well as a Crémant de Bordeaux.

The tasting cellar is open from 5 January 2026 to 31 December 2026. Complimentary visits and tastings are available. The estate welcomes groups of up to 20 people. Languages spoken are French, English, Spanish, and Dutch. Pets are not permitted on the estate.

The property has converted a barn into an eco-museum, displaying artwork illustrating the winemaking cycle, antique tools, presses, vats, and wine pumps. A 5 km botanical trail, dotted with informative plaques detailing around thirty plant species, is also open to visitors. An authentic 19th-century bread oven has also been restored.
