Château Trianon

Identity

Château Trianon is a winegrowing estate located in Saint-Émilion, in the Gironde department. It is owned by Dominique Hébrard and is part of the Collection Grand Trianon Palaces and Wine. Alizée Huet serves as the oenologist and cellar master, while Emmanuel de Saint Salvy is the vineyard manager.

History and Philosophy

The history of Château Trianon dates back to at least the 17th century, with some records suggesting origins as far back as the 16th century. Dominique Hébrard acquired the estate in 2000. Subsequently, the vineyard, the cellar, and the vat room were renovated in 2000. The estate joined the BHL company in 2004.

Appellations

Château Trianon primarily produces wines under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. It also crafts a cuvée under the Bordeaux appellation for its white wine and one under the Côtes de Provence appellation for its rosé.

Practical Information

Château Trianon welcomes visitors, whether in groups or small parties, wine professionals or families. Visits are available by appointment from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The estate accepts payments by credit/debit card and cash. Pets are welcome, and the property features on-site parking and Wi-Fi. It also provides motorhome facilities and offers international shipping. Tours in English are available. The Vineyard (Terroir)

The Château Trianon vineyard spans 14.5 hectares within a total property of 16 hectares. The vines have an average age of 35 years. The terroir consists of sandy-clay soils over iron-rich hardpan (*crasse de fer*), with red gravel found on the surface of certain plots. The grape varieties are dominated by Merlot (78% or 80% depending on the source), complemented by Cabernet Franc (10% or 14%), Cabernet Sauvignon (4% or 5%), and Carménère (2% or 3%). Viticulture is conducted traditionally, with hand-harvesting. The estate has been certified High Environmental Value (HVE) Level 3 since 2020, renewed in 2022. It also achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification in 2020, which was renewed in 2022.

Flagship Cuvées

The estate offers several cuvées. The main red wine is released under the name Château Trianon, in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. The second red wine is “Le Petit Trianon”, also a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. The range also includes a “Pavillon de Trianon” cuvée in red Bordeaux Supérieur, as well as a white “Pavillon de Trianon” cuvée under the Bordeaux appellation. Finally, the estate produces a “Pavillon de Trianon” rosé in Côtes de Provence. Annual production stands at around 65,000 bottles.
