History and philosophy
The history of Vignobles JP Garde spans five generations. The estate transitioned from polyculture to predominantly winegrowing activities during the 1960s. The grandfather took over the Lalande-de-Pomerol estate in the 19th century. The Montagne Saint-Émilion parcels originally belonged to the maternal grandfather, Émile Furt. The acquisition of the Pomerol vines dates back to 1977, followed by the purchase of Château de Marchesseau in 1996.
Vignobles JP Garde introduced sustainable management strategies well before 2015. The estate holds HVE 3 certification.
Appellations
Vieux Château Goujon is associated with the Montagne Saint-Émilion appellation, covering a surface area of 1.3 hectares. Vignobles JP Garde also produce wines in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation across 26.11 hectares, notably under the Château de Marchesseau label (9 hectares). The estate also maintains a presence in the Pomerol appellation with 2.35 hectares of vines for Château la Truffe.
