Maturity check this morning on the whites, Sauvignon and Sémillon

Maturity checks this morning on the whites, Sauvignon and Sémillon.
We should harvest our earliest plot this Friday then carry on next week.
We will have finished the white harvest in August, about ten days ahead compared to last year.
The goal of these maturity checks is to measure sugars and pH, and to confirm our impressions from tasting the grapes in the plots.
What we are seeing this year:
- certain areas, often localized, suffered from the drought, which creates imbalances in the grapes, already high pH levels, and a lack of ripeness,
- a lot of heterogeneity within the same row,
- our best terroirs are holding up well and will give us very fine results,
- sorting will be necessary due to hail having impacted some berries,
- very low risk of botrytis.
In short, not the easiest year to manage at harvest time, but we are confident about bringing in a small, high-quality crop.
