The forecast rain did indeed arrive this weekend

We received a total of 22mm.
We will need to be very vigilant in the coming days. The risk is that the berries split and botrytis sets in.
Our cover-cropped soils should help absorb some of it. We will be keeping a particularly close eye on the Cabernet Francs, which are almost ripe. We were planning to bring them in on Thursday. Will they hold out until then?
We will also need to monitor the Cabernet Sauvignons, particularly the effect of the rain on their ripeness. At this stage, berry size will not change. The fear is that the rain will kick-start ripening and we will reach full maturity very quickly. We would then have to harvest everything in a short space of time, and using the harvesting machine will be essential.
What is certain is that things will move quickly now, and we will have brought everything in by early October.
