History and Philosophy
The Chanfreau family's history in Listrac began in 1963, when Léo Chanfreau, grandfather of Guillaume and Loïc Chanfreau, acquired the property. Their father, Jean Chanfreau, subsequently took over the management of the estate. In 2020, Guillaume and Loïc Chanfreau, both qualified engineers, took over the reins of the property. In 2024, the Chanfreau brothers acquired Château Lestage, marking a new milestone in the family's development, which now encompasses four châteaux. The estate has been certified Terra Vitis since 2015.
The Appellations
The wines are produced under the Listrac-Médoc, Moulis, and Bordeaux appellations. Loïc Chanfreau serves as president of the ODG Listrac and vice-president of the ODG Moulis.
Practical Information
In 2017, visits and tastings at each property were available without an appointment for €5. An architectural tour of both estates was offered for €8. A combined tour of Château Fonréaud and Château Lestage was bookable online via Bordeaux Wine Trip for €12.
