Château Fayat is a winegrowing estate belonging to the Fayat family. General management is overseen by Yannick Evenou, with Emeric Bossuet serving as estate manager. The cellar master is Yann Monties, with winemaking consultancy provided by Julien Viaud and consultant oenologist Michel Rolland.
History & philosophy
Château Fayat was established in 2009 by Clément Fayat. Its creation was the result of combining three historic properties he had previously acquired: Château Commanderie de Mazeyres (purchased in 2000), Vieux Château Bourgneuf (purchased in 2008), and Château Prieurs de la Commanderie (purchased in 1984).
Originally from the Corrèze region, the Fayat family also owns other wine estates, most notably Château La Dominique (acquired in 1969) and Château Clément-Pichon (acquired in 1976). Château Fayat is actively committed to biodiversity initiatives, including a bat conservation programme in partnership with HISA and the upcoming installation of beehives for wild pollinating bees.
Appellations
Château Fayat produces wines under the Pomerol appellation. The vineyard is located just north of Libourne.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvesting is carried out both by hand and mechanically. The estate does not purchase external grapes.
