Identity

Château Tasta is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Saint-Aignan, in Gironde. It is owned by the Chevalier family: Patrice, Frédérique, and Maxence Chevalier.

History and philosophy

The history of Château Tasta with the Chevalier family began in 1922 when Pierre and Marie Chevalier acquired the property. The family torch was subsequently passed to Albert and Jeanne Chevalier in 1948, then to Robert and Chantal Chevalier in 1981. In 2001, Patrice Chevalier and Frédérique Chevalier took over the management of the estate. More recently, in 2021, Maxence Chevalier joined the team, marking the involvement of a new generation.

The estate is committed to environmentally friendly practices, as demonstrated by its High Environmental Value (HVE) Level 3 certification obtained in 2019. Since August 2023, part of the vineyard has also been in conversion to organic farming.

The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Tasta vineyard spans 13.5 hectares across clay-limestone soils. The average age of the vines is 45 years. The plantings are entirely dedicated to Merlot, which accounts for 100% of the vineyard.

Key cuvées

Château Tasta produces several cuvées. Among them, the Château Tasta cuvée, crafted under the Fronsac AOC, is a still red wine made from 100% Merlot. The T de Tasta cuvée is a Canon Fronsac AOC red wine, generally blending 95% Merlot complemented by Cabernet Franc. The estate also produces rosé wines with the Les Chérubins du Tasta cuvée, as well as a sparkling rosé, Cœur des Chérubins.

The estate's red wines are distinguished by their ageing potential, which can span 10 to 15 years for certain cuvées.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification at Château Tasta takes place in vats, followed by ageing in oak barrels. For certain cuvées such as T de Tasta, ageing can last up to 12 months in oak barrels after an initial period in vat.
