The terroir

The Canon-Fronsac appellation, located on the Right Bank of the Dordogne, is one of the oldest in the Libournais. Its vineyard extends across a steep plateau and commanding hillsides, characterised by clay-limestone soils and a subsoil of Fronsadais molasse. This terroir imparts remarkable structure and complexity to the wines, which benefit from favourable sun exposure and natural drainage. The altitude and topography define the singular character of this area.

The wines

Canon-Fronsac wines are exclusively red, crafted predominantly from Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and, to a lesser extent, Cabernet Sauvignon. These blends yield wines characterised by a deep colour and aromas of red and black fruit, often accompanied by spicy and forest-floor notes. On the palate, they reveal an elegant tannic structure and fine freshness, with proven ageing potential. They are wines of balance and finesse.

Food pairing

Canon-Fronsac wines pair harmoniously with a wide range of culinary creations. Their structure and aromatics make them ideal companions for grilled or sauced red meats, feathered or furred game, and roast poultry. They also pair well with mature cheeses, particularly hard varieties. The suppleness of their tannins allows for pairings with subtly spiced dishes, highlighting their gastronomic versatility.
