History and philosophy

The Queyrens family has been dedicated to viticulture for over a century. In 1964, Jean and Yvette Queyrens acquired their first vineyard plot at Pilet. Over time, other estates such as Château du Pin-Franc and Château des Graves du Tich were incorporated into Vignobles Jean Queyrens et Fils. The estate practices sustainable viticulture.

Appellations

Vignobles Jean Queyrens et Fils produces wines under several appellations, including Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux, Côtes de Bordeaux, Bordeaux, Bordeaux blanc, Bordeaux rosé, Crémant de Bordeaux, and Sainte-Croix-du-Mont.

Winemaking and ageing

Certain cuvées, such as Château Pilet Prestige, can benefit from oak barrel ageing. For the rosé wines, techniques such as low-temperature fermentation and ageing on the lees are documented. Château des Graves du Tich has been aged in vats and barrels for ten months. Red wines are aged in vats.

The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyard covers an area of 65 to 70 hectares in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, overlooking the right bank of the Garonne.

Flagship cuvées

The estate offers a range of wines comprising reds, whites, and rosés, as well as a Crémant de Bordeaux.

Red wines

• The main cuvée is Château Pilet.
• Château Pilet Prestige is a prestige cuvée. In certain vintages, it is crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon or combines a significant proportion of Cabernet with Merlot, and may be aged in oak barrels.
• The cuvée Jean Queyrens et Fils Alt. 120 mètres is a still red, sometimes made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in vats.
• Château du Pin-Franc is a classic blend of Merlot and Cabernets.
• Château Pilet Sélection can be produced with a majority of Merlot or a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

White wines

• Château Pilet is a white wine made from a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignons. The proportion of Sémillon can reach up to 80%, or be blended with both Sauvignons.
• Château du Pin-Franc offers a white wine made from a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignons, sometimes in equal parts (50/50).
• The cuvée Château Pilet Les Hauts de Massonne is dominated by Sémillon.
• Château des Graves du Tich is a Sémillon cuvée.

Rosé wines

• Château Pilet is a rosé made primarily from Merlot.
• Château du Pin-Franc is a rosé de saignée made from Merlot.
• The cuvée Les Hauts de Massonne du Château Pilet is a Merlot rosé.

Sparkling wines

• Cuvée de Chapput is a brut Crémant de Bordeaux, generally produced from 100% Sémillon and sometimes aged on the lees or fine lees.
