La Macération 2022 - Vin de France (92/100 RVF)

Organic wine certified by FR-BIO-16 and DEMETER

White wine vinified with skin contact, 20 days of fermentation. 60% Sauvignon, 40% Sémillon.

In 2020, we favoured Sauvignon for this cuvée, whereas Sémillon dominated the 2019 vintage.

Since 2021, we have been favouring a blend of these two grape varieties, which complement each other wonderfully.

This cuvée is not an orange wine, but a macerated wine, as we prioritise gentle extraction, with present but integrated tannins. In short, we add structure to a white wine, but it remains a superb gastronomic white wine.

2022 Vintage:

'The slightly greyish hue doesn't necessarily herald the aromatic explosiveness of this macerated cuvée, dominated by Sauvignon. Elderflower, lime leaf and fruit, tangerine zest... the grape variety remains recognisable, but as if transfigured. A proudly 'macerated' aromatic expression: mandarin peel, sage, rosemary, damp earth... The very definition of panache in the texture of this Sémillon, which indeed evokes certain Italian orange wines. In the finish, the alcohol perhaps slightly overtakes the wine's verve, but it remains a very successful stylistic exercise. Lighter, a little austere, the 2021 lacks the same relief.'

Guide 2024 des Vins Bio, Pierre Guigui: ' This is exactly what I like: macerated wines 'but not too much' as stated on the label. We love this nose, slightly volatile, which speaks of citrus zest, sage and curry (again). Delicately woven, the palate is just as disorienting with this bitterness of zests and these vibrant notes.'
