I'm not sure if this book helps me understand wine better, but in any case, I learned a great deal

..
The author shows us that wine is, above all, a cultural object.
The book features 50 thematic chapters, taking us on a journey through the vineyards of France, the Canary Islands, Santorini... We discover Proust's guilty pleasure for Champagne, Lamartine's poor qualities as a winegrower, and that Saint Vincent is far from being the only patron saint of winemakers...
In short, an essential read to devour for anyone interested in the history of wine.
And what is more, we learn that humankind already knew how to make wine long before knowing how to write.
