The drawing below illustrates the different stages the bud is going through right now

These phases are particularly important for us during this frost period that has begun.
Yesterday we toured the plots to see where things stood.
On the Cabernet Sauvignon, whichever the parcels and their earliness, we are at the bud swell stage. For us, this means virtually no frost risk on this grape variety over the coming days.
On the other grape varieties, it depends on the parcels and their earliness. Depending on the plots and even on the same cane (*aste*), we observe a mix of all stages, up to stage 10 (leaf emergence).
And at this point, the more advanced the growth, the higher the frost risk. Our most advanced plot (the Bouché parcel) has up to 30% of buds at the leaf emergence stage.
Last night, it froze at around -1°C at about 6:30 am. We are going to check if there has been any damage, even limited. We remain concerned about Monday and Tuesday nights next week, when temperatures are expected to drop below 0°C again. After that, we will certainly have a few days of milder weather while waiting for the next frost spell.
April is likely to be long. 5–6 weeks of stress ahead. The vine decidedly does not respect lockdown.
