Yesterday, we went tasting all the forgotten grape varieties planted on the estate: blanc auba, blanc verdet, sauvignonasse, prueras in white

And in red, gros cabernet, gros verdot, Carménère, petit verdot, petit pejac, fer, bequignol, Mancin, Castets, Bouchalès, Saint-Macaire, jurançon noir, Merille, penouille, unless I’ve forgotten one or two.
For the first year, we are harvesting all these grape varieties. It is looking very promising: a symphony of flavours, freshness, fruit, tannins…
For each grape variety, we will try to find the ideal picking date and vinify them individually whenever the harvest dates allow.
For all these varieties, we will conduct grape analyses to gain a better understanding of them and expand our experimental knowledge base.
In any case, we take immense pleasure in doing this work, thanks to an extraordinary team who embrace this additional workload with great good humour!
Pictured: a bunch of Castets, from which we should be making a single-varietal cuvée this year.
