Château Thieuley is situated in La Sauve, in the Gironde department. It is owned by Marie and Sylvie Courselle, members of the Courselle family who have been cultivating vines in this region for several generations. Francis Courselle is the estate's head winemaker, alongside Marie Courselle, who is also a winemaker.
History and philosophy
The Courselle family has been established in the vineyard for over a century. In 2013, the estate was affected by a hailstorm in August, leading to the decision not to produce any red wine for that vintage. The estate is a member of the Grand Cercle des Vins de Bordeaux.
Appellations
Château Thieuley produces wines under the Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, Bordeaux Clairet and Cadillac appellations. Among its specific wines, Château Thieuley Blanc is classified under the Bordeaux appellation, as are Cuvée Francis Courselle Blanc, Château Thieuley Rouge, Cuvée Francis Courselle Rouge, Château Thieuley Rosé and Château Thieuley Clairet. Winemaker meals are also being planned. The estate does not offer accommodation, cellar-door sales or direct mail-order sales, but offers branded products such as Thieuley Boxes and items created in partnership with other French brands, including a wine jelly made from Thieuley wine.

The vineyard (terroir)
The vineyard of Château Thieuley covers a total surface area of 80 hectares. Of these, 45 hectares are dedicated to red grape varieties and 35 hectares to white varieties. The average age of the vines is around 35 years. Harvesting is carried out mechanically. The estate is located in La Sauve Majeure.
The red grape varieties comprise 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet-Sauvignon. For the white varieties, the plantings are split between 50% Sauvignon or Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon.
Flagship cuvées
The estate offers several cuvées, starting with Château Thieuley Bordeaux Blanc, crafted from 45% Sémillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sauvignon Gris. Cuvée Francis Courselle Bordeaux Blanc is a blend of 50% Sémillon and 50% Sauvignon Blanc.
For the red wines, Château Thieuley Bordeaux Rouge is composed of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Cuvée Francis Courselle Bordeaux Rouge blends 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Château Thieuley Bordeaux Rosé is made predominantly from Cabernet Franc (70%) and Merlot (30%). Meanwhile, Château Thieuley Bordeaux Clairet is crafted from 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Finally, the estate produces Le Crémant de Thieuley, a sparkling wine crafted using the traditional method from 50% Sémillon and 50% Cabernet Franc.

Vins de Bordeaux : les entre-deux-mers établissent un « Top Vin » inédit
L'appellation Entre-deux-Mers a organisé son concours annuel « Top Vin » le lundi 30 mars, visant à sélectionner les cuvées qui la représenteront lors des actions de promotion en 2026. Une quinzaine de sommeliers de l'Association des sommeliers de Bordeaux Aquitaine ont dégusté une cinquantaine de vins pour en retenir 20. Pour la première fois, des vins rouges de l'Entre-deux-Mers ont été inclus dans ce classement, marquant une évolution pour l'appellation. Parmi les vins blancs lauréats du millésime 2025 figurent le château Chantelouve, le château Les Arromans, le château La Grande Métairie, le château Nardique La Gravière, le château Landereau, Ajisaï Première Préssée, le château Thieuley, le château La Freynelle, le château Grand Jean, le château de Beauregard Ducourt, le château Castenet et le château Haut-Rian. Les cuvées élevées en blanc, millésimes 2024 et 2025, incluent Éphémère par Jean-Christophe Icard (2025), Le Grand Blanc du château Roquefort (2024) et le château Bellevue (2024).
