I want itChef Damien
At Château Cazebonne, we appreciate the importance of surrounding ourselves with personalities whose convictions resonate with our own. This is the case with Chef Damien, an iconic figure in gastronomy and co-founder of 750g.com. His commitment to authentic products and passing on expertise echoes our approach. Damien Duquesne is also the brother of Jean-Baptiste Duquesne, an equally fascinating figure who is highly committed to restoring Bordeaux's wine heritage through his writing and historical research. This family relationship highlights a convergence of values and a shared curiosity for the history and future of our terroir.
Beyond his role as a chef, Damien Duquesne has established himself as a true culinary educator and talent scout, notably through the popular 750g videos that democratise gastronomy for millions of internet users. His career is marked by a constant desire to share and make the culture of "eating well" and "drinking well" accessible. This vision of accessibility and quality perfectly reflects our own desire at Cazebonne to make our unique wines understandable and enjoyable for everyone, from enlightened enthusiasts to novices. The impact of personalities like Chef Damien actively contributes to the revival of Bordeaux and the democratisation of Graves wines.
The connection between Chef Damien and Château Cazebonne was born from a chance but deeply significant meeting. It was during a blind tasting, organised far from the usual promotional events, that our wines won him over. The originality of our cuvées, made from lost Bordeaux grape varieties such as Castets and Mancin, immediately caught his attention. This sensory discovery, without any preconceptions, forged a relationship based on mutual respect and a shared admiration for the boldness and authenticity of our approach to yesteryear's grape varieties. Committed winegrowers in Bordeaux find a valuable resonance in him.
A memorable anecdote perfectly illustrates Damien's personality: despite his busy schedule, he insisted on visiting the estate in person. Far from socialite events, his interest was drawn to our living soils, our biodynamic practices, and the challenges of cultivating ancient grape varieties. He marvelled at an old Castets vine, touching the stump with an almost sacred respect, demonstrating his deep connection to the earth and its history. It is this sincere curiosity that makes him a precious ambassador for our Bordeaux revival.
Today, Château Cazebonne wines naturally find their place on the wine list at 750g La Table restaurants. These establishments, where Chef Damien has instilled his philosophy, offer cuisine that highlights seasonal products and bold "food and wine" pairings. We are proud to see our red Graves wines and white Graves wines served there, allowing diners to discover unique flavours that tell the story of a vineyard in the midst of a renaissance.
Château Cazebonne is driven by a passion for reviving Bordeaux's wine heritage, an adventure made possible by the support of enthusiasts and personalities like Chef Damien who have embraced our wines. To explore these aspects further and understand our approach, you can download the digital version of "Bordeaux, une histoire de cépages", test your knowledge with our oenological quizzes, or discover our cuvées in our online shop.
