How temperatures can wipe out a harvest in just a few hours

..
This graph comes from the weather station of Loïc Pasquet, winegrower at Liber Pater.
Last night, we were expecting a quiet night with no frost. The forecast called for overcast skies and temperatures dropping to 3 degrees. So no frost risk on the horizon.
Over in Podensac, the sky cleared around 11 o'clock at night, triggering a rapid drop in temperatures.
Loïc decided at two o'clock in the morning to start his frost fans and managed to prevent temperatures from dropping below freezing. During the night, the weather clouded over again and temperatures rose immediately. The frost that had formed melted before sunrise, avoiding the magnifying glass effect on the buds in the morning.
That was a night when we could all have lost part of the harvest. But the weather had other ideas, bringing back a few saving clouds in the middle of the night.
Roll on May, so the risk of frost is finally behind us!
