Sauvignonasse is a historic Bordeaux grape variety

It was also known as Sauvignon Vert. This grape variety is no longer authorised in France.
Here we find it on a supermarket shelf in Slovenia. The Slovenians have grasped the potential of this variety, which until recently was known as Tocai Friulano. However, faced with outcry from Hungary, they fell back on the name Sauvignonasse.
This variety used to be found in Bordeaux, in the Sauternais region. We have replanted this grape variety at Cazebonne, even though today we are not permitted to make wine or even grape juice from it. We are going to take every possible step to ensure it is authorised once again.
In the meantime, we will make the most of the week to go and taste it with some excellent Slovenian winemakers.
