Post-war agriculture has relentlessly sought to increase its productivity. One cannot dispute the effectiveness of plant protection products used in conventional farming. But at what cost? Organic farming comes at a cost, but we believe it is an essential cost for the preservation of ecosystems and for keeping the land alive, particularly by maintaining acceptable levels of organic matter in the soils. The road ahead will be long to shift mindsets and move away from a system that feeds our society by depleting reserves at the expense of future generations.
