Today, we are watering the top-grafted vines whose grafts have not yet taken or are at the one-leaf stage
The vine stock needs to keep drawing up sap for the graft to take, grow, and gradually knit together with the vine.
However, it is quite a logistical challenge because at a rate of 10 litres per vine, that is a lot of water to bring in. We are going to water around 1,000 vines today, and this will be the final watering. Either the graft takes, or we will have to top-graft again next year. We would like to reach a 95% success rate, but it is not a done deal yet.
