We narrowly avoided disaster this morning

The forecast predicted two to three degrees in the morning and temperatures dropped to zero at the weather station, which means frost in the lower parts of the parcels, in the most frost-prone areas.
We started up the wind machines at 4 am to anticipate the worst. One of the 5 machines refused to start. The technician is coming today because we need to be on deck again for the upcoming nights.
This frost episode will only definitively be behind us from next Thursday.
It is going to be a long haul.
At this stage of vine growth, damage can occur at -0.5 degrees. Let alone scenarios of -1, -2 or -3 degrees.
We really needed a quiet year after the frost in 2021, the heatwave in 2022 and downy mildew in 2023.
We remain optimistic. We have to get through this, just like last night. But we aren't getting much sleep at the moment.
