The vibrant soul of Château Cazebonne: a dedicated and visionary team

Château Cazebonne, as we know it today, was born from an unwavering vision and passion. In 2016, Jean-Baptiste Duquesne, a bold entrepreneur and enlightened wine enthusiast, laid the foundation stones of this ambitious project. His dream: to breathe new life into an exceptional terroir and explore innovative viticultural paths, driven by a respectful and pioneering philosophy.

This human adventure truly took flight thanks to a decisive meeting with David Poutays. An experienced winegrower, renowned for his work at Clos de Mounissens, David masterfully orchestrated the estate's complete conversion to organic farming and biodynamics. His mission was clear: to cultivate each vine with the utmost respect for its environment, allowing the terroir to fully express itself in every bottle. Under his watchful eye, the vine was more than a crop; it was a living ecosystem, whose fragile balance was preserved and even strengthened day after day.

Florian de Perre, the captain of the Cazebonne ship

Since 2021, Florian de Perre has taken over the management of the estate, perpetuating and enriching this dynamic of excellence. With rigour and passion, Florian keeps the course resolutely steered towards sustainable viticulture and the pure expression of the terroir. His leadership is essential for the estate's development.

A career forged by a passion for wine

Hailing from a family deeply rooted in the wine world, Florian grew up to the rhythm of the vine's seasons. His formative years and his experience at renowned estates, both in France and abroad, have given him cutting-edge expertise in quality wine production and team management.

Meeting Cazebonne: falling for a unique project

Florian was captivated by Cazebonne's pioneering philosophy, particularly its strong commitment to forgotten grape varieties and respectful viticulture. For him, the estate represents a unique opportunity to reconcile tradition and innovation, crafting wines that tell a story and express the very essence of their terroir.

The cellar anecdote

Florian likes to tell the story of the first time he visited the Cazebonne cellar. He was particularly struck by the serene atmosphere and the balance of the premises, immediately feeling that it was a place where nature and human endeavour harmonised to create something special.

Florian's vision for Cazebonne

"Every bottle of Château Cazebonne must be an open window onto our terroir, a testament to our commitment to biodiversity and the richness of our Bordeaux wine heritage," confides Florian, whose determination is a source of inspiration for the whole team.

The Cazebonne team: skills serving the terroir

Florian is surrounded by a close-knit and passionate team, whose commitment is palpable at every stage of the process, from winter pruning to the harvest. Bruno, Benjamin and Francis each bring their expertise and dedication, forming an essential pillar of Château Cazebonne's success. Their expert hands, watchful eyes and intimate understanding of the vine cycle help to forge the identity of our wines, vintage after vintage. It is this synergy, this alchemy between people and the land, that gives rise to cuvées of rare authenticity and finesse.

At Cazebonne, we are proud to position ourselves as players in the Bordeaux viticultural revival. We have taken up the bold challenge of replanting and promoting historic grape varieties, which had fallen into oblivion but are essential to the original identity of Bordeaux. This long-term work, a true tribute to the history of Cazebonne, is made possible by the unwavering support of the many enthusiasts who have adopted our wines and shared our vision. As detailed in Jean-Baptiste Duquesne's book "Bordeaux, une histoire de cépages", these forgotten grape varieties are true treasures of our wine heritage. It is with you that we write a new chapter in the history of Bordeaux grape varieties every day, reviving forgotten flavours and aromas.
