The Parcellaires: exploring the nuances of terroir and winemaking

At Château Cazebonne, the Parcellaire cuvées range is much more than a simple collection of wines: it is a true open-air laboratory, an invitation to deeply explore the soul of our terroir. Here, each cuvée is a singular expression, born from a parcel with a strong personality, or a grape variety we wish to magnify. We sometimes break away from the beaten track to let the quintessence of the vine express itself, even if it means shaking up the tacit conventions of the appellation.

Philosophy behind the Cazebonne Parcellaire cuvées

Our approach is that of an artisan-winemaker, seeking to reveal the hidden potential of each fragment of our estate. This involves meticulous work, parcel by parcel, with very special attention paid to the nature of the soils, the exposure, and the age of the vines. Every decision, from pruning to harvest, is designed to let the grapes express their purest truth, thereby offering authentic wines, sometimes surprising, but always full of identity. This approach is fully in line with our commitment to sustainable and respectful viticulture, notably promoting biodiversity within our vineyards.

Experimentation serving the expression of terroir

The Parcellaires are the reflection of our thirst for experimentation. It is here that we explore various winemaking techniques, such as ageing in amphorae or the use of ovoid vats, in order to sculpt the wine and exalt its aromas and textures. Each bottle is a story, an exploration of the multiple facets that a Bordeaux micro-terroir can offer, an invitation to discover unprecedented flavours and assertive personalities. We pay particular attention to the winemaking of each parcel to preserve its identity.

Preservation of heritage and ancient Bordeaux grape varieties

This work of enhancing the specificities of our terroir is also part of a broader approach to preserving wine heritage. As Jean-Baptiste Duquesne explains in his book "Bordeaux, une histoire de cépages" (Éditions BBD), many grape varieties formerly characteristic of our region have gradually disappeared. We are committed to reviving these forgotten treasures, and it is also within our Parcellaires that some of them will regain their former glory. This replanting work is a long-term project, made possible by the unwavering support of the many wine lovers who have adopted our wines and share our vision. It is thanks to your trust that we can continue to innovate and preserve this precious wine heritage, notably that of the forgotten grape varieties of Bordeaux. Do not hesitate to consult our explorations on modest grape varieties to understand our approach. You can find all of our Parcellaire cuvées for sale on the Cazebonne shop.

Our Parcellaire cuvées

Each Parcellaire cuvée stands out for its own characteristics, derived from the chosen grape variety, the specific terroir where it is grown, and the winemaking and ageing choices.
