Bordeaux Pirate: A new vision of wine

Château Cazebonne is featured in an article by Terre de Vins about the 'Bordeaux Pirate' cuvées. The Terre de Vins article, dated 17 January 2024, reports on the tasting that selected the 2024 pirate cuvées. Nicolas Jamin, consultant oenologist for Château Cazebonne, noted that the aromatic profiles of the wines tasted differed significantly from classic Bordeaux profiles, meeting consumer demand for stand-out cuvées. Jean-Baptiste Duquesne, of Château Cazebonne, is highlighted as a leading figure of the Bordeaux Pirate movement, co-founded in September 2022. He is also recognised for his commitment to reviving forgotten Bordeaux grape varieties and for his role as the 'troublemaker of the Graves', demonstrating Bordeaux's capacity for innovation. Among the favourites from the tasting, Château Cazebonne - Argile Ocre de Bouché 2022 (€23, Graves, Bordeaux Pirate) was specifically highlighted. This amphora-aged white wine was described as striking, with aromas of ripe stone fruit and a fleshy palate featuring notes of peach and ripe lemon.
