In Bordeaux, the pirates have their own cuvées

The article from Terre de Vins highlights the 'Vignerons Bordeaux Pirate' association and the wines awarded the label following a tasting. Jean-Baptiste Duquesne of Château Cazebonne is one of the initiators of this project aimed at promoting original Bordeaux cuvées. Two wines from Château Cazebonne, "La Macération" (white) and "Comme en 1900" (red), were awarded the Pirate label. The estate is also mentioned for its sparkling wine "Bul’bonne" (Petnat VDF).

The article in Terre de Vins, entitled « À Bordeaux, les pirates ont leurs cuvées », announces the creation of the 'Vignerons Bordeaux Pirate' association in September 2022, following the success of an eponymous Facebook group. This initiative aims to promote Bordeaux wines that display an identity distinct from the region's traditional image, highlighting personal and high-quality cuvées. Jean-Baptiste Duquesne of Château Cazebonne is cited as one of the four initiators of this project. A panel of professionals gathered at the end of 2022 to taste 79 cuvées and elect the 'Bordeaux Pirate 2023'. The wines were assessed on their organoleptic quality and their 'pirate potential'. In total, 52 cuvées were certified with the label, all being organic or in conversion. Château Cazebonne saw three of its wines recognised in these awards: "La Macération" (Vin de France white, 2020), "Comme en 1900" (Vin de France red, 2020) and "Bul’bonne" (sparkling Petnat VDF, 2020).
