The future and relevance of modest grape varieties under debate

Founded in 2011 on the initiative of Philippe Meyer, the association Rencontres des cépages modestes works to defend uncommon grape varieties that it considers promising for meeting the challenges of tomorrow's agricultural landscape. Just over a hundred wine enthusiasts and professionals gathered for their thirteenth meeting in Saint-Côme-d'Olt. Bordeaux winemaker Baptiste Duquesne from Château Cazebonne has reintroduced the Carménère grape variety.
