All winegrowers across Bordeaux and France have their eyes glued to the weather forecast

There is widespread concern over the temperatures forecast for tonight and tomorrow night. The thermometer is expected to hover around zero. At this stage of the vine’s development, sub-zero temperatures would cause irremediable damage. Some will fly helicopters to circulate the air, others will burn straw bales...
For our part, we are not going to do very much. Our business model does not stretch to funding a helicopter, and we do not have the infrastructure to store straw in anticipation of such weather hazards.
We will need to sit down over the summer to plan a frost-protection strategy, which unfortunately is becoming more and more frequent in our regions.
