Here are two bottles of plonk

From the Languedoc, of course.
Just joking. Every month, my brother invites me to taste a line-up of bottles to select the wines of the month he wants to showcase at his restaurant 750g la table.
Five or six of us taste the wines before the meal, asking ourselves whether they add real value to the wine list in terms of price-to-quality ratio.
The idea is to break away from conventional wine lists that feel obliged to feature the usual staple appellations with debatable value for money.
Yesterday, these two Languedoc wines stood out. Le temps des gitans, a local vin de pays made from Syrah: crisp, juicy, easy-drinking and approachable. A delightful, unpretentious wine that won unanimous praise around the table (the bottle was completely finished). And a Minervois, Domaine Sibille, Terre de grès, from the 2021 vintage. A warmer wine (14%), yet balanced and suave, which will pair wonderfully with the chef's rib of beef.
And to round things off, we also particularly enjoyed a Côtes de Toul made from the Auxerrois grape. The chef and his team will take great pleasure in championing this little-known AOC!
