Pruning is going to be complicated this year

The hail swept through and caused this type of scarring on the year’s growth, on the canes to be pruned.
The trouble is that most of the canes can no longer be used.
We will have to resign ourselves to spur pruning, that is to say, settling for leaving short spurs as close to the vine stock as possible. This will only leave us with a small crop in 2019, but we have no other choice.
We will be touring all the vineyards at the end of the week to decide on the pruning strategy, parcel by parcel.
