We spent two wonderful days at the Rencontres des Cépages Modestes, in Aveyron

This year, the guest of honour was Argentina, who shared some magnificent wines with us. They benefit from highly varied climates (from Salta in the north, to Patagonia in the south, via Mendoza), but the Andes mountain range adds further complexity by allowing the vinification of wines from the plains as well as high-altitude wines (up to over 3,000 metres). Here, a magnificent Torrontes from Mendoza, made naturally with no added sulphur. An orange wine with several months of maceration. Wonderfully complex, with notes of mandarin, citrus fruit, and mint tea.
