Do you know Petit Péjac

For the first time this year, we are vinifying 200 kilos of this historic grape variety from eastern Gironde.
It appears on the list of grape varieties recommended by Gironde associations, as part of the implementation of the Capus Law. This MP for the Gironde worked tirelessly so that only grape varieties sanctified by loyal and ancient local customs could be used within the appellation framework.
Returning to Petit Péjac, it was reportedly discovered by a certain Mr Péjac in western Lot-et-Garonne. It is referenced by Cazaux-Cazalet in Viala and Vermorel's 1910 ampelography. The conservatory vines were rediscovered in Cocumont in the 1950s.
This year, it yields a moderate alcohol level (around 12%) with an average pH (3.69). The berries taste wonderful. We can't wait to see what it will yield once vinified.
