Extract from the cadastral inventory (1964) of grape varieties planted in our commune of Saint-Pierre de Mons

1/ First observation: we have great terroirs for white wines and previous generations were not mistaken. Moreover, before the 1930s, our commune could claim the Sauternes appellation.
2/ Merlot and Cabernet were barely present, leaving room for a number of local grape varieties: Bouchalès, jurançon noir, saint-macaire (here under the name moustouzere), pardotte...
All this confirms that we are on the right track: returning to our origins, to the reasons why our predecessors chose these grape varieties. And understanding which ones have a future in the context of global warming!
