Last year, we started on 19 April, fairly comparable in the end. We treated half of the estate, focusing on the most advanced grape varieties: the whites, as well as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. No treatment on young vines, no treatment on Cabernet Sauvignon. For this first pass, dynamised horsetail tea, 100g of copper per hectare, and 2kg of sulphur. As a reminder, in organic farming we also treat; copper is not entirely harmless to nature. The whole challenge is therefore to control the quantities and manage the season carefully. Yet copper is a natural element, present in soils and useful to the life of certain plants. It is therefore the dose that makes the poison. It is up to us to manage this wisely.
