Birds in the vineyards: sentinels of biodiversity at Château Cazebonne

In our Château Cazebonne plots, the delightful presence of a rich and varied birdlife is a key indicator of the good health of our ecosystem. The harmoniously orchestrated birdsong accompanies our days, bearing witness to a restored biodiversity. Blackbirds, robins, tits (The Tit: acrobat and precious ally of the Cazebonne vineyards) and other species find food and shelter with us, far from the disruptions of intensive monocultures. This vitality is the result of our environmentally friendly farming practices.

Birds are precious partners for the vines. They act as natural regulators of insect populations, feeding on caterpillars (caterpillars in the vineyards), aphids (aphids) and other potentially harmful invertebrates. This biological regulation reduces our need for external interventions, fitting perfectly into our philosophy of sustainable and respectful viticulture. The agile flights of buzzards, the song of the nightingale, the discretion of the blackcap (the blackcap) or even the elegance of the wagtail are frequent sightings that illustrate this balance. To find out more about one of these majestic birds, you can consult the category dedicated to The egret, but also the one exploring the heron or the black kite.

Our commitment is demonstrated through concrete actions: planting hedgerows, maintaining grassed areas and drastically limiting inputs create a welcoming habitat rich in resources. The low use of phytosanitary products on our vines guarantees a healthy environment for these winged guests. This attention paid to the environment allows many species to flourish, thus enriching our estate.

At Château Cazebonne, our commitment to nature goes hand in hand with our passion for the Bordeaux wine heritage. We strive to replant forgotten grape varieties, such as Castets, Mancin or Saint Macaire, whose history is detailed in the book "Bordeaux, une histoire de cépages". This work of preserving life, both animal and plant, and promoting our terroir would be impossible without the support of our wine lovers. To find out more about these resurrected grape varieties, we invite you to download the digital version of this captivating book. You can also test your wine knowledge with our oenological quizzes, or discover the diversity of our cuvées, the fruits of this restored harmony, by exploring the Cazebonne shop.
